An era has come to an end. In the fall of 2020, with the entrenchment of the pandemic and pursuits of other activities, I thought it was best I sold my beloved Piper Cherokee – CF-GJB. It found a good home with a new pilot in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Hopefully in the future I’ll find another plane to continue my adventures.

2019 marked over 20 years of flying for me. I’ve flown across Canada a couple of times, visiting over 100 airports along the way in my Piper Cherokee. My nearly 1000 hours of flying has included doing some tourist flights over the highlands in Scotland, both coasts of the US, and over the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I even shipped my Fleet Canuck to New Zealand and flew it there for over 3 years.

All of these wonderful trips over the years have been documented with some pretty fantastic pictures on this BlueSideUp.aero website in the past. But, I’ve decided to park older pictures for the time being and let those experiences be wonderful memories of years gone by. In addition to the archives, I am still keeping some posts of recent flights that you might find interesting. You can see them by clicking on the menu above.

In 2017, I decided to embark on a new flying adventure. In celebration of Canada’s 150th Birthday, I set a new goal to attempt to fly my small airplane to over 150 airports throughout Canada. That means resetting the number of airports I’ve landed at in Canada to zero, start again, and see where I could go and include lots of places not yet visited. As well, I hope to visit at least one airport in each of the provinces and territories. This initiative is a tribute to the importance that aviation and airports have played in keeping Canada vibrant and prosperous.

You can track this new adventure at my other website FlyCanada150. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I am.
